The “Ninety-90 Bash” – International Cricket League with striking new format to be staged in U.A.E

The Chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board, His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, sanctioned a new international cricket league in the UAE at signing ceremony held in Abu Dhabi. Along with His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the signing ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Mr. Khalid Zarooni, Mr. Salman Iqbal of the ARY Group, Mr. Abdul Rehman Bukhatir & Mr. Khalaf Bukhatir from Bukhatir Group and Mr. Aref Al Awani General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council. 

The agreement signed between Sharjah based Century Events & Sports FZC and Emirates Cricket Board is launching a first-of-its-kind, exciting 90-ball an inning, annual cricket league to be held in Sharjah – the home of international cricket in the Middle-East. The inaugural tournament is scheduled for 2022, to be held under the auspices of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB).

With an aptly named working title, the “Ninety-90 Bash”, is the collective brainchild of three leading regional entrepreneurs; Abdul Rahman Bukhatir (Chairman of the Bukhatir Group), Salman Iqbal (Founder & President of ARY Digital Network and owner of the Pakistan Super League’s Karachi Kings team) and Imran Chaudhry (Managing Director of the Cinergie Group of Companies). The trio is based in the U.A.E and each one captains successful and diversified enterprises. The three leaders all share a common passion for the game of cricket, and they have come together to put their considerable weight behind this exciting new cricket tournament.

Globally recognized and acknowledged as the pioneer and founding father of international cricket in the Middle-East Abdul Rahman Bukhatir is the Chairman of the Bukhatir Group, a long established and diversified business conglomerate based in Sharjah. A visionary with a great deal of passion for the game, he has fostered the sport’s growth in the U.A.E for decades and is looking forward to leading a new era for cricket here. He said; “I have been a part of cricket’s journey here in the United Arab Emirates from the very beginning, and it is my endeavor to continue to give cricket a home here in the Emirates, while finding ways in which to grow the game and keep it healthy”.

Abdul Rehman Bukhatir added; “this new exciting format could be instrumental in creating a brand new fan base for the sport, not just in the UAE, but across the globe.”

Salman Iqbal, the Founder & President of ARY Digital Network and owner of the Pakistan Super League’s Karachi Kings team is one of the region’s most successful entrepreneurs.

Iqbal believes Ninety-90 cricket is just what the game needs and he said; “the sport has evolved over the years and the time has come for cricket to take another leap of faith. We believe we have something brand new to offer and the entire team expects the tournament to be a grand success.”

Completing the trio is Imran Chaudhry, managing director of the Cinergie Group of companies, and a renowned businessman with a diverse portfolio of corporations ranging from trading in oil field supplies, industrial equipment and metals, to department stores, hospitality and real estate. Imran Chaudhry said; “the proposed Ninety-90 format will be shorter than Twenty20 cricket, with the aim of making every contest sharp, edgy and action-packed, while retaining the importance of cricket skills at the core of its success.”

Mr. Khalid Zarooni, Vice Chairman of the Emirates cricket board (ECB) was looking forward to the new tournament and said; “we are very proud to sign this deal and look forward to an annual tournament that is entertaining.”

Preparations for the Ninety-90 Bash are in full swing. Several well-known global business houses and cricketing icons, players are already set to sign on; bringing together a heady mix of iconic cricketing stars and emerging players to be a part of this 90 ball an inning tournament.

Abu Dhabhi T10 League partners with KFC in Pakistan to spearhead the momentum of the fastest-growing cricket movement. 

Abu Dhabi T10 League, the world’s only ten-over cricket league to officially sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and licensed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), today announced a three way partnership with the popular fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), to spear-head the momentum of the world’s fastest growing cricket movement in which Qalandars, a franchise team that represents Pakistan will play a major role.

A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among the partners at a crowded press conference, which was attended by all the sections (including social media, print media & electronic media) of Pakistani media  in the presence of officials of KFC, Qalandars and Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Welcoming KFC as a partner in Pakistan, Shaji-ul-Mulk, Chairman of Abu Dhabi T10 league said; “as the Abu Dhabi T10 league’s fever grips cricket fans all over the world, it is heartening to see global brands are coming forward in embracing the league and forge partnerships to create a win-win situation for all. This is a new beginning for the game of cricket and our partners will see a steep jump in their brand value through their association with Abu Dhabi T10 league. As we move closer to the tournament, we will see many more global brands joining us in our journey”.

Sohail Akhtar, a leading member of the Qalandars squad, signed the MoU on behalf of Qalandars, while Noor Alam, Chief Marketing Officer of KFC Pakistan signed the deal on behalf of his company.

The deal aims to popularize the Abu Dhabi T10 league and encourage Pakistan’s cricket-loving people to watch and enjoy the games by watching them either at home through television channels or by travelling to Abu Dhabi and watch the matches at Zayed Cricket Stadium.

This was stated by Qalandar’s star player Sohail Akhtar, after signing the documents. He further said; “we are also particularly happy to welcome KFC as a partner of Abu Dhabi T10 League. This partnership will help us to popularize the ten-over format cricket and the Abu Dhabi T10 League in particular”. Replying to question Sohail Akhtar said; “with KFC, Qalandars will create a massive campaign in Pakistan to attract our cricket fans to watch Abu Dhabi T10 League and come in scores to support their favourite team and players”.

Noor Alam, Chief Marketing Officer of KFC Pakistan thanked Abu Dhabi T10 League and Qalandars. He said; “we are really excited for this partnership. We are planning to run special campaign to promote Abu Dhabi T10 League and Qalandars. This way KFC will reach wider consumers and create a win-win situation for all stake-holders”.

The Qalandars became the latest high-profile team to join the star-studded Abu Dhabi T10, when it was announced as the new team from Pakistan. Qalandars with many Pakistani super-stars in their team is going to be one the biggest crowd-pullers when the league starts in Abu Dhabi on 14th November 2019 with a colorful opening ceremony.

Abu Dhabi T10 League is a professional ten-over format cricket league launched by T10 Sports Management Co and is licensed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and is approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the governing body of International cricket. It is the first ever internationally approved ten-over format league.
