Zeb Bangash applauded for her performance at the Asia Arts Game Changer Awards.

The prestigious Asia Society India Centre held their 6th edition of the Asia Arts Game Changer Awards on the 12th of April 2022, hosting their signature virtual gala celebration honouring artists from the continent.

This year it was wonderful to have renowned Pakistani singer Zeb Bangash add soul to the celebration through a rendition of a medley of songs. Hailing from Lahore, Zeb has enthralled audiences with performances crossing cultural and linguistic boundaries. She is also the first Pakistani artist to serve as music director of an award- winning Bollywood film, ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ that went on to receive 18 international film awards.

Inakshi Sobti, Chief Executive Officer, Asia Society India Centre, was full of appreciation and praises for Zeb Bangash as she stated; “Zeb’s voice & music during the awards received rave reviews cutting across the barriers of borders and conflict.  The virtual world makes such cross cultural and cross border collaborations seamless. The ability for over 650 participants from across South Asia and South Asia diaspora to connect with each other was a testimony of our shared humanity and the ability of culture to create bridges in an otherwise politically stratified world”

For more than 30 years, Asia Society has been a pioneer in identifying and fostering the latest contemporary Asian artists and engaging new audiences with their work. This year the awards were hosted virtually, keeping the uncertainties of the pandemic in mind.

Zeb Bangash shared her views by adding; “I am absolutely delighted to have been invited by the Asia Society’s India Centre to be a part of their annual Asia Arts Game Changer Awards”

Zeb’s four tracks included the Sinf-e-aahan sound track, Pankh Laga Ke from Eik Thi Maryam, Sambhal Sambhal and Ajaa Re Moray Saiyya.

Zeb Bangash congratulated the three winners Himmat Shah, Sumakshi Singh and Jasmine Nilani Joseph.

She further added by saying; “such exchanges allow for South Asia’s artist’s fraternity not only to meet and engage but to work together on collaborations that might not be otherwise possible. As always it was absolute pleasure to have partnered with the Asia Society who I have worked with on many an occasion and look forward to doing so again in the future”.

Zeb Bangash’s new song ‘Tum Saath Ho’ out now.

Renowned singer/composer Zeb Bangash, popular for her melodious voice and distinctive style, recently announced the release of her new song ‘Tum Saath Ho’.

The song titled ‘Tum Saath Ho,’ a peppy homage to Pakistani pop-music from the 80’s, is a collaboration with the leading actor and singer of the industry, Haroon Shahid. The release of the teaser on social media last week has been met with much anticipation from fans of both artists who still remember their last chart-topping collaboration “Sambhal Sambhal” from Shoaib Mansoor’s Film, ‘Verna.’

‘Tum Saath Ho’ has been composed by Haroon Shahid, produced by Ahsan Pervaiz Mehdi and the music video is shot by the musician and visual artist Nouman Javaid. The song is available to stream on the music platform ‘Room Files’ by Bossmenn.

“Working with Haroon on this song has been thoroughly enjoyable”, commented Zeb Bangash. She further added by saying that; “Haroon and I don’t hang out all the time yet every time we work on music together we really connect , and I always like the sound that comes out in the end – funky with hints of nostalgia. This song in particular has a new age Nazia and Zoheb vibe.  I wanted to be a part of Room Files, because above everything else, I feel it’s important to support talented artists on independent new music. We (musicians) must stick together as an industry.”

“From listening to her songs in Coke Studio, like Bibi Sanam Janam and Chal Diye, and singing songs like ‘Sambhal Sambhal’ and ‘Hum Tum’ with Zeb, we have surely come a long way,” said an excited Haroon Shahid.

Zeb Bangash has carved a space for herself in the industry that is both mainstream and uniquely her own. Recently we heard her as the voice of the Women of Steel for the blockbuster serial ‘Sinf-e-Aahan.’

After her award winning performance in Ghisi Piti Mohabbat earlier this year, the talented Ramsha Khan is coming back with a power-packed performance in the highly anticipated serial ‘Sinf-e-Aahan’, representing Baluchistan in her role as ‘Pariwesh Jamal’.

Pariwesh, Khan’s character, is a small town girl from Baluchistan who is shown to be fearless as she fights all odds to achieve her dream to join the army. She breaks all stereotypes and goes against the norms of her society to do her nation proud.

Her character’s teaser was released by ARY Digital today, giving the audience a sneak into Pariwesh’s character and journey to become an army cadet, and includes a personalized official sound track (OST) sung in Brahvi (the ethnic language from Baloch region) crooned by the talented vocalist Zeb Bangash.

From the reveal of the first announcement of the serial, ‘Sinf e Aahan’ has captured the audiences’ hearts where each of the female lead namely Sajal Aly, Syra Yousuf, Yumna Ziadi, Kubra Khan and Sri Lankan star Yehali Tashiya will be playing military cadets alongside Ramsha Khan. Each character hails from a different background and yet they all achieve their dreams despite all odds to join the army and serve the nation. Even though they are different from one another, one thing each woman has in common in the trailer is that “she doesn’t need a hero, she was raised to be one.”

The much anticipated project has been produced by Samina Humayun Saeed and Sana Shahnawaz of Next Level Entertainment along with Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Nasib of Six Sigma Plus in association with ISPR.
